Ben, I was recently thinking about exactly that aspect of BSG, even though I’m only about two-thirds of the way through the series.

Again, no spoilers, but you’ll recall that at the end of the second season the show actually jumps right over a substantial chunk of time (which we later see bits of in flashback). At first, I was frustrated at having missed so much offscreen action; but as becomes clear later, there really wasn’t much going on during that time. Just like before the series and (I assume) afterward, the characters were just getting on with their lives, and there wasn’t much of a story to tell.

All of this makes me wonder what the prequel series Caprica is going to be all about, since it takes place long before these dramatic times. But I have faith in Ron Moore.
